In Philadelphia there are many historical places African Americans should know about like Mother Bethel African American, the johnson house and many more.

Mother Bethel AME was founded in 1787 and the church is one of the oldest pieces of land continuously owned by African-Americans.  Mother Bethel AME was one of the first African American churches in the United States and the church was organized by African-American members of St. George’s Methodist Church who walked out due to racial segregation. The church was even part of the underground railroad. Mother bethel AME is still open today and you can take a tour.  It is located in 419 S 6th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
